Razmig Messerian

Razmig (“Raz”) Messerian manages patent portfolios for clients of various sizes and provides intellectual property counseling on patent and trademark matters. Raz’s strong technical background in electrical engineering serves as an invaluable tool in understanding the full scope and inner workings of his clients’ inventions, which helps him secure patents for complex inventions. Besides helping clients obtain patents, Raz also believes in a strong line of communication with his clients to help strategize his clients’ intellectual property interests as they relate to their businesses. To further this effort he drafts various written opinions of counsel for patent validity, patent infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Raz has also played a lead role in overseeing patent and other IP related issues during acquisition negotiations of a client by a third party. The client was ultimately acquired for more than $50MM. Raz also handles cybersquatting cases and domain disputes. Most recently, Raz helped a local business win their UDRP domain dispute and keep their valuable .com domain.

Prior to joining Loza & Loza, Raz was an associate for one of the largest intellectual property firms in the nation. He is a former electrical engineer and specialized in digital systems. He has designed and tested communication circuitry and systems for consumer mobile telecommunications at a startup in Los Angeles.

Raz has prosecuted patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and across a wide range of technologies, including:
